This project's goal was to create a universal theme; a piece that evoked feeling know by people everywhere despite their surrounding environment, culture, or age. For me, this art symbolizes growth and transformation that all people experience as they age. It is a symbol of change not only in a physical manner, but in the spiritual sense as well.

Created entirely with chalk pastel, this medium was chosen because it develops blurry edges and gives the sense of a dream. Also, the use of vibrant, unnatural colors furthered the abstraction of the piece. A solid black was used in the background to greatly intensify the emphasis on the "flower" in the mid section keeping the viewer's eye on the main object.
